'Ferdinand omission helps Man Utd'

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson says Rio Ferdinand's omission from the England squad will be to his side's advantage.

England boss Roy Hodgson has apologised to Ferdinand for discussing the defender's international future during a journey on the London Underground this week.

United are looking to return to winning ways at Newcastle on Sunday, after losing at Old Trafford to Tottenham last weekend.
