Torquay 1-1 Burton Albion

Calvin Zola scored a last-minute equaliser to give Burton Albion a well-earned point at Torquay United.

Rene Howe opened the scoring for the Gulls, firing in from six yards for his fifth goal of the season.

The Brewers were denied an equaliser by Torquay keeper Michael Poke who produced a fine double save to deny Zola and Jack Dyer.

But Burton, who hit the woodwork twice, finally drew level when Zola pounced to slot home from close range.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Torquay United manager Martin Ling told BBC Radio Devon:

"It's two points dropped, it's frustrating. I think we brought it on ourselves in terms of ball retention.

We looked like the away side - Ling

"There are 13 players that have played today, I can't knock any of them for work rate, I can't knock any of them for effort, but I think I can knock all 13 for not being good enough on the ball.

"We looked like the away team looking to break on teams, and I think we've got to have a different emphasis on our game when we play at home.

"I understand the frustration of the crowd because we didn't give them anything to cheer about. Maybe I'm just getting a little bit paranoid, but there are some whingers that sit behind us."

Burton Albion manager Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Derby:

"We were very disappointed to go 1-0 down. It was a slightly dubious decision because we felt it was a foul on Calvin near halfway and then when they go and score, you're left slightly aggrieved.

Burton should have won - Rowett

"After the first five minutes, I thought we were really dominant in the game. I felt Calvin had one or two excellent chances, and I thought we had one or two strong claims for a penalty, because there was some tugging and wrestling in the box.

"In the end, I was just really pleased to get something out of the game because I felt we completely deserved that."
