Alfreton Town 3-0 Luton

Alfreton picked up a convincing victory over Luton, who announced a loan deal for Jake Robinson before the match.

Anthony Wilson headed home Nathan Arnold's cross early on to give the hosts the lead.

Dan Bradley scored from the penalty spot after Arnold was fouled by Dean Beckwith, and Wilson made it 3-0 with a sweetly-struck drive from 18 yards.

Andre Gray fired wide for the Hatters, who have brought in Northampton striker Robinson on loan for a month.

New Luton signing Jake Robinson started the game, after the 25-year-old striker joined on a one-month loan deal from Northampton.

Alfreton workrate delights boss Law

"I thought the lads were phenomenal for 90 minutes in that heat. To put the shift in that they did, that was back to the Alfreton of old.

"The all-round performance was as good as I've seen for a long, long time.

"I'm not bothered if we win it 4-1 or 5-1, I wanted the clean sheet and we deserved it today.

"We've limited a very good team to very few chances and, without being disrespectful, we could have had a good few more.

"It was a good day for us, but I'm trying not to get too carried away."

Luton manager Paul Buckle told BBC Three Counties Radio:

Buckle unhappy with Luton defending

"We had a good enough team out to (at the very minimum) draw the game but we didn't turn up, we didn't perform.

"I'm deeply disappointed for our supporters, so are the players - they've come a long way and we've just not played, we made terrible errors and it was unrecognisable (from our recent form).

"You have to come out the traps, the first goal is vital - they got it, it gave them something to hold onto, but we contributed massively to our own downfall.

"The players have been brilliant on the road but today we've come crashing down on the back of a poor performance."
