Carlisle United's Lee Miller facing long injury lay-off

Carlisle United striker Lee Miller will be out for at least a month after picking up an ankle injury in the club's first league game of the season.

Miller, last season's leading goal-scorer, has been advised to rest the joint for four weeks.

Only when the swelling and bruising has reduced will specialists be able to determine whether surgery is required.

A club statement said there was no time scale for recovery until the 29-year-old attended the second appointment.

On his Twitter feed, Miller commented: "Nightmare start to the season! Might need surgery on my ankle! Gutted doesn't come close! Can't wait until this year is over! #worstluckever."

Miller, who lost his wife to cancer in April, is likely to be replaced by Danny Cadamarteri in the Carlisle team to play Tranmere on Tuesday.
