Newry City future appears uncertain after game postponed
The future of Newry City appears uncertain after their opening IFA Championship game against Loughgall was postponed on Friday.
The former Premiership outfit are the subject of a winding up petition, to be heard in the High Court on 6 September.
A statement from the IFA said that the IFA Championship Executive Committee had met to "consider correspondence received from Newry City FC".
The game has been postponed to allow Newry to "clarify their position".
Newry just missed out on a return to the Premiership in May when they lost 3-2 to Lisburn Distillery on aggregate after a promotion/relegation play-off.
The club also contested the semi-finals of last season's Irish Cup, where they lost 7-0 to Linfield.
