Barry Corr misses Southend trip to Spain because of injury
Southend striker Barry Corr will miss their pre-season trip to Spain after suffering a groin strain in training.
Corr, 27, is working his way towards a comeback after missing the entire 2011-12 season because of a knee problem.
"It's a shame because he had been flying in training," boss Paul Sturrock told the club's website.
The Irishman's injury is described as "minor" and the club remain hopeful that he will be available for the start of the new season.
Corr scored 21 goals in his first season at Roots Hall after joining the club from Exeter in 2010.
He recently agreed a new 12-month contract and said: "I really appreciate it as it would have been easy for them to release me.
"I am under no illusions that players who don't play at this level for a length of time normally get let go."
The Shrimpers will play Real Madrid C and Rayo Vallecano B during their four-day trip.
