Blackpool 4-0 Burnley

Blackpool secured their place in the Championship play-offs with an emphatic derby victory over Burnley.

Stephen Dobbie fired Ian Holloway's side into the lead from 25 yards, his fifth goal in as many starts.

Gary Taylor-Fletcher's header and shots by Stephen Crainey and Nouha Dicko made sure of the result as they extended their unbeaten run to six games.

Holloway proud to reach play-offs

While Burnley had their chances, Blackpool can now dream of an immediate return to the top-flight.

Dobbie has made an instant impact since rejoining the Seasiders on loan from Swansea and his fine form continued.

The former Scotland striker returned to the side in place of Lomana LuaLua after overcoming a back injury and gave Blackpool a dream start.

The Tangerines were denied an early penalty when Dobbie's shot appeared to strike Dean Marney's hand. But it mattered not as the Blackpool striker made up for that disappointment with a drilled strike that flashed low beyond the dive of Clarets goalkeeper Lee Grant.

Burnley, unbeaten in their previous four games, were dangerous when they did attack. Blackpool goalkeeper Matt Gilks was forced into impressive saves from Chris McCann, Charlie Austin, Junior Stanislas and Ross Wallace as the visitors sought an immediate response.

Dobbie might have extended the hosts' lead, however, only for Tom Ince's curling cross to narrowly evade him.

Scoreline flattered Blackpool - Howe

But a minute into the second half Blackpool doubled their lead. Stephen Crainey's looping a cross was met by Taylor-Fletcher, who beat a pair of Burnley defenders to head his eighth goal of the season.

Holloway's men put the result beyond doubt just after the hour. Dobbie and Ince exchanged passes to send Crainey into the area, where his shot slipped between Grant's hands and into the net.

There was still time for Dicko to add a fourth goal in the 80th minute as fellow substitute Kevin Phillips released Ince, who squared to for the on-loan Wigan man to finish.
