Aldershot 2-1 Swindon

Swindon were made to wait to secure promotion from League Two after they were beaten at Aldershot.

The hosts stunned the table toppers when Guy Madjo slotted home early on after keeper Wes Foderingham had parried away Danny Hylton's shot.

Town captain Paul Caddis brought his side level from the penalty spot after Peter Vincenti handled in the area.

But Hylton's tap-in at the back post from Madjo's cross delayed Swindon's promotion party.

Paolo di Canio's men are five points clear at the top of the table and could seal a place in League One on Saturday against Gillingham - a game which is set to be played behind closed doors because of a row over policing costs.

Shots rose to occasion - Holdsworth

"I am really delighted with the performance and the result.

"We had to earn it against a very good side. We rose again to another fantastic occassion. I think both sets of fans were brilliant tonight.

"We had some harsh words when we drew at the weekend.I let them know my feelings, and they've responded with character.

"I still want more from them in certain parts, but I think man-to-man we were brilliant."

Swindon Town manager Paolo di Canio told BBC Wiltshire:

Di Canio angry at Swindon attitude

"For the time that I am here, I will do everything for change. If I have to bring in all the youth team at Gillingham, then I will.

"I would have no problem bringing in 11 under-16s and let some of the players who played tonight have a treble session and not go out Saturday night, drinking until the morning.

"When I was young, every time I made an action, I made it my responsibility.

"I told them I would defend them if they behaved well. If you don't behave like a professional and you don't respect the shirt and you don't respect the club that pays you, you will not be under me."
