Sheffield Utd 2-1 Bournemouth

Ched Evans set Sheffield United on their way as they beat Bournemouth to move back into the League One automatic promotion places.

Evans volleyed in Matthew Lowton's cross to bag his 32nd goal of the season in all competitions.

Richard Creswell doubled the advantage when he squeezed the ball over the line after a goal-mouth scramble.

Zavon Hines nicked the ball off keeper Steve Simonsen as he attempted to clear and slotted into the empty net for 2-1.

United players protested furiously, but after consulting his assistant, referee Andy Woolmer gave the goal.

After Sheffield Wednesday beat Huddersfield 2-0 earlier on Saturday to temporarily leapfrog over the Blades, United moved back above their rivals into second place with the win.

Defeat means that the Cherries have now gone four games without victory, and have won just once in 11 games.

Sheffield United controlled game until fluke - Danny Wilson

"We were in control, then we gave a fluke of a goal away and it just gave them the bit of impetus that they needed.

"I think at this stage of the season those types of performances are vital and you have to dig in.

"Overall the three points is paramount and we've got it."

Bournemouth caretaker manager Paul Groves tells BBC Radio Solent:

Project will take time - Groves

"I think when you consider how much we backed them up in the second half and the half chances that we had then you will come away disappointed.

"I don't think Zavon knew too much about it really, he was trying to get back into a good area, the goakeeper's not aware of him and has ended up throwing it against Zavon. It was fortunate but I thought for our 45 minutes' play in the scond half we deserved it.

"It takes a good while to put things in place where the players are comfortable and confident in what they are trying to do."
