Morecambe 0-1 Swindon

Paolo di Canio's Swindon moved a step closer to the League Two title with a hard-fought victory at Morecambe.

After an uneventful first half with few chances, Swindon opened the scoring 53 seconds after the interval.

Paul Benson turned in a pass from Lee Holmes, his 10th goal since joining the Robins from Charlton in January.

Holmes almost doubled the lead but was denied by home goalkeeper Barry Roche, while Nick Fenton headed against a post in stoppage time for the Shrimps.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

"There is a fine line and, in this division, consistency plays a massive part.

Swindon defeat frustrates Bentley

"You can't afford to give people half a yard in the box, which we've done, they've gone ahead and then it's always going to be tough.

"I think a point would have been a fairer result, but we find ourselves just below that fine line again.

"I'm massively, massively frustrated."
