Efe Sodje confident Bury will avoid League One drop

Bury centre-back Efe Sodje remains confident they will not be relegated after a 10-game winless run.

Their last win, 3-2 over Yeovil, left them five points off the play-offs but after the 4-1 loss at Carlisle they now sit just seven points off the drop.

Bury won't panic over form - Sodje

"We're not going to panic," he told BBC Radio Manchester. "We know we've got good players in that changing room that can turn things around.

"I say 'keep the faith' and we're definitely going to stay up."

The 39-year-old former Nigerian international signed a new two-year deal last summer at Gigg Lane and has made 33 appearances this season, scoring once.

The Shakers have struggled defensively in recent times, shipping 11 in their last three games, and have the second worst goals against record in League One.

They have brought in centre-back Nathan Clarke from Huddersfield to add cover, but Sodje believes they must stick to their attacking principles if they are to turn their form around.

"We're not going to just go out there and keep defending but we're going to go out, play, pass it like normal and we'll get victories," he added.

"I've been in it with Crewe. I know that it will work out.

"We're still together, everybody is still tight, there's no arguments in the changing room.

"We're all disappointed at our individual mistakes for the team and especially for the manager."
