Mansfield 2-1 Lincoln City

Mansfield recorded their fifth successive home win and moved to within a point of the play-offs at the expense of Lincoln City.

Ross Dyer expertly finished Luke O'Neill's cross to grab his sixth goal of the season and put the hosts ahead.

Gary Roberts doubled the advantage in spectacular fashion with a superb effort from 30 yards out.

Mark McCammon fired home from just inside the area for the Imps, but it proved to be only a consolation.

Cox pleased to repay Stags chairman

"It's been a big week for us with the ground [chairman John Radford bought the ground]. I'm pleased for the chairman and we repaid him a bit. It was nice to perform well in front of a big crowd.

"We applied ourselves really well. We played with a lot of energy and we played well in possession. But when we didn't have the ball, we were manic and we really got about them and never really let them settle.

"It's a good win and one we wanted out of the way because of the stuff regarding the ground that was surrounding the club this week."

Lincoln City manager David Holdsworth told BBC Lincolnshire:

Not much between sides - Holdsworth

"It was a very even game. There was nothing in it and you would not have guessed that Mansfield are on the verge of the play-offs and we have had a struggling team, so all in all I was satisfied.

"But I felt that (we needed) a bit more belief about us, a bit more desire in the final third.

"We've competed very well today. If we do have something to improve on, we need to start keeping clean sheets but we've played a good side and there wasn't much difference.

"But when you come to a side in the top six you have to impose yourself and I think there were not enough personal battles won. But I can't take anything away from Mansfield, they're a top six side and we must have aspirations of getting to those levels."
