Derry City crush Lisburn Distillery in Setanta Cup

Derry City cruised into the Setanta Cup quarter-finals, their 3-0 win at the Brandywell completing a thumping 7-0 aggregate win over Lisburn Distillery.

Patrick McEleney advanced to open the scoring with a 25-yard shot which deceived Whites keeper Billy Brennan.

In the second half Derry scored through Stephen McLaughlin and Rory Patterson.

McLaughlin's 60th-minute shot gave Brennan no chance and three minutes later David McDaid found Patterson who slotted home for the Candystripes.

Before those two goals, Distillery had a chance to equalise but Scott Davidson shot wide from a good position.

Late in the game, though, Derry were in complete command and should have won by an even greater margin.

Derry will face Irish League champions Linfield in the quarter-finals in March.
