Hamilton Accies release James Chambers and Andy Maclean
Hamilton Accies have released Irish midfielder James Chambers and Australian defender Andy Maclean.
Chambers, who joined Accies from Shamrock Rovers in January, has decided to continue his career in the Republic of Ireland.
"I met the chairman at the end of last week to agree my release," said Chambers.
Maclean, 18, only joined in the summer from Melbourne.
Last season Chambers was on the scoresheet in the Scottish Premier League for Accies in their victory over Hibernian in April.
This season Chambers scored three goals in 15 appearances for the New Douglas Park club.
But the 24-year-old feels a move back to his homeland would be beneficial at this stage of his career.
"I've enjoyed it here and I wish the club well," Chambers told the club website.
"The Irish transfer window is open just now and the season starts in February, so I will look at my options."
Australian-born defender Maclean has also decided to return to his homeland after having suffered a culture shock during his short spell in Scotland.
Maclean, who never featured in the First Divison's first team, confirmed: "As much as it was my ambition to come and try British football it hasn't worked out for me and the differences have been more than I expected.
"I had never seen proper snow before until Sunday, for example!
"I have enjoyed being here at the club and have made many friends."
