Alfreton Town 1-1 Gateshead

Blue Square Bet Premier

Struggling Alfreton had to settle for a point at home to Gateshead after Chris Moore's leveller for the visitors.

The Reds deservedly went in front before the interval when Jake Moult set up Paul Clayton who placed a fine shot beyond the reach of Jak Alnwick.

The Heed got back into the game after the break and equalised when substitute Moore finished Craig Baxter's pass.

Clayton then missed some good chances to win it for the hosts while Jon Shaw could have nicked it for Gateshead.

VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law told BBC Radio Derby:

Alfreton deserved to win - Law

"I probably should feel delighted with that result but it's somewhat disappointing really.

"We dominated that game from start to finish with five shots cleared off the line. We should've won it comfortably but fair play to Gateshead. They've come and defended right and they got a bit lucky.

"But from an all-round perspective, that's the best performance of the season so far and what a goal. If we were a league team, that would've been shown all night."
