Success not a fluke - Pardew

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew puts his side's recent success down to having strong characters in the squad, citing a deliberate policy of recruiting players with a winning mentality.

The Magpies face Wigan on Saturday, and Pardew believes Roberto Martinez's men will be coming "to prove a point", saying his squad will have to be on their guard but should still be able to win.

Pardew also repeates his praise of the club's owners, saying the club are "spending every penny... to make sure we have a successful company".
