Sheffield Utd 3-0 Colchester
Sheffield United bounced back from their midweek hammering by Huddersfield to brush aside Colchester United.
Ched Evans got the Blades' first when he converted Harry Maguire's centre before Chris Porter's cute chip made it 2-0 to the hosts early on.
Anthony Wordsworth and Andrew Bond forced good stops from Steve Simonsen as the U's pressed for a goal.
But the Blades, who hit the woodwork three times, wrapped up the win through Stephen Quinn's cool finish.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"We said to the boys, if we can start off like we did on Tuesday night, we'll cause a lot of problems. And we did that.
"The running off the ball was pleasing, the passing was pleasing and the creativity from the side was terrific.
"You can't complain when you win 3-0 at home, maybe it could've been a few more but we're not complaining at all."
Colchester United manager John Ward told BBC Essex:
"They know that we've probably been a little bit easy to beat, and that's the disappointment we go home with.
"We've got to do better than that, even against the good teams.
"We'll find it really hard over 46 games to finish above people like Sheffield United, but over 45 minutes we can give them a better game than we've managed to do."
