Sheffield United name Frank Barlow as assistant manager
Sheffield United have named Frank Barlow as assistant manager.
Barlow, 64, who has previously worked as a coach at rivals Sheffield Wednesday, spent seven years at Bramall Lane as a player.
Blades boss Danny Wilson told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He's got a wealth of experience and everyone who has worked with him has nothing but good to say.
"It was a no brainer really, he's a fantastic friend and confidant. We can only benefit from having him here."
Barlow has managed Chesterfield and Scunthorpe and had a stint as Wigan caretaker-manager following the sacking of Chris Hutchings in 2007.
The well-travelled coach has also had spells with Barnsley, Birmingham City, Bristol City, Walsall, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Bradford.
Wilson continued: "He has got a wealth of knowledge in football.
"I've known him for 30 years and I'm delighted to have him on board."
