World Grand Prix: Michael van Gerwen faces John Part in opener

Defending champion Michael van Gerwen will face Canada's John Part in the first round of the World Grand Prix.

to claim his first major Professional Darts Corporation title in October 2012.

Part, who has been world champion on three occasions, will provide a stiff opening test for the 24-year-old.

World number one Phil Taylor plays Jamie Caven in the first round, while fellow Stoke player Adrian Lewis faces 2011 Grand Prix finalist Brendan Dolan.

The seven-day event begins at the Citywest Hotel in Dublin on 7 October.
