Surrey reached 68-1 on day one of their Division Two game with leaders Hampshire as heavy rain at The Oval meant only 26 overs were possible.

When play finally got underway at 14:10 BST after a delay of more than two hours, James Tomlinson removed Zafar Ansari lbw for one in the third over.

Shortly after, more rain arrived and no further play was possible until 18:10 BST with 22 overs left in the day.

Rory Burns (22 not out) and Vikram Solanki (44 no) made it to the close.

With a dry forecast for the capital on Sunday, prospects of a full day's play look more promising as third-placed Surrey look to close the 18-point gap on Worcestershire in second.
