ICC European Division One T20: Jersey win against Germany

Andrew Dewhurst

Jersey bounced back from the morning's defeat to Denmark by beating Germany in the ICC Division One T20.

Peter Gough (41) and Ed Farley (30) put on 76 for the first wicket as they amassed 166-5 from their 20 overs.

The Germans lost wickets regularly but kept up with the scoring rate and required 15 off the last over.

Corne Bodenstein, who took 2-28, held his nerve restricting the opponents to eight runs off the final over as they fell short on 159-5.

Earlier in the day, Jersey tasted their first defeat of the tournament against reigning champions Denmark.

Batting first, the Danes reached 164-5 with Luke Gallichan returning excellent figures of 2-16 from his four overs.

Jersey lost wickets at regular intervals and slumped to 116-9 from their 20 overs, with Andrew Dewhurst top-scoring with 38.

The islanders, who have lost just once in four matches, sit in second place in Group B behind the unbeaten Danes.
