Craig Overton: Somerset all-rounder to miss season

Somerset all-rounder Craig Overton is set to miss the rest of the season through injury.

The 19-year-old has suffered a stress fracture in his lower back and is expected to be out of action for around four months.

"We need to ensure it heals in enough time," director of cricket Dave Nosworthy told BBC Somerset.

Overton's absence causes further problems for the club, who are already without several first-choice players.

Alfonso Thomas and Craig Kieswetter are both injured, while Nick Compton and Jos Buttler are on England duty.

With Kieswetter still at least two weeks away from fitness after breaking his thumb, Alex Barrow has been handed the gloves for the Division One match against Yorkshire at Taunton.

Play was abandoned on day one because of rain and is set to resume on Wednesday.

Bowler Thomas has suffered a hamstring injury and he will undergo scans on Tuesday to determine the severity of the injury.
