Essex's Ryan ten Doeschate 'in better mental place'

Essex all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate insists he will not suffer from mental fatigue on his return to the county after a winter of playing T20 cricket.

following a spell in the Indian Premier League.

"I fee like I'm in a far better mental stage," he told BBC Essex.

"I'm trusting myself to play the cricket that I want to. If it doesn't work, I think I'll be in a better frame of mind to put things behind me."

Dutch international ten Doeschate spent some time in his native South Africa over the winter, but has played a lot of Twenty20 cricket in New Zealand, Bangladesh and India.

He returns to an Essex side who are fresh off and are second in Division Two of the County Championship ahead of Wednesday's fixture against bottom-of-the-table Kent.

"Our target this year was to focus on four-day cricket a bit more," he added.

"The last result against Glamorgan was particularly pleasing because it was hard fought over four days. I think that's a sign of a good team."
