Rebecca Field has welcomed her underdog status as she prepares for a semi-final encounter against Karen Murphy in the World Indoor Bowls Championships.

The Norwich-based 22-year-old will secure a place in the final in her debut appearance at Potters, should she overcome the Australian on Wednesday.

"It will be tough. She's an exceptional player," Field told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"But it's quite nice being the underdog in a way. I'll play as well as I can and hopefully it will be good enough."

Field, the current British Indoor Under-25s champion, beat senior British title-holder Julie Forrest on Saturday and has spent the days waiting for her semi-final back at her day job for a marketing firm.

But she will reconvene in front of the Great Yarmouth crowd hoping a partisan local support can help her into the final.

"It's like nothing I've ever experienced before and I'm really enjoying it," she said of the Potters atmosphere.

"The crowd is 10 times bigger than anything normally would be. It puts a little bit of pressure on you.

"But being a bit of a local girl means they're on my side."
