The Open 2012: Ian Woosnam punished for Open clubs error
Ian Woosnam is denied the chance of winning The Open Championship title as the Welshman is punished for having too many clubs in his bag.
The Welshman and 1991 Masters champion realised on the second tee that he was carrying 15 clubs and not the permitted 14.
The error by caddie Miles Byrne led to a two-stroke penalty - and saw former world number one Woosnam lose £218,334 in winnings and miss out on an eighth Ryder Cup playing appearance.
