Heather Watson insists she can only benefit from the experience of facing Li Na in the US Open first round.
Watson, 20, faces the
2011 French Open champion,
who is ranked eighth in the world, at Flushing Meadows on Monday.
But the Guernsey-born world number 71 sees no reason to be intimidated against the Chinese player.
Watson won her second WTA doubles title of the year with Marina Erakovic at the Texas Open on Saturday. They also won at Stanford in July.
"To play against a top-10 player, a Grand slam winner, gives me a huge opportunity to play her, show her what I'm capable of," Watson told BBC Sport.
"It's a chance to play these top girls more often and I've never played Li Na but I'm looking forward to it."
British number one Watson, who
reached the third round of Wimbledon
in June and won the Texas Open doubles with Marina Erakovic on Saturday, is targeting a place in the top 50 by the end of the year.
She added: "Come December, my goal is to make the top 50 in singles and doubles. It's not going to be easy because the jumps get harder the higher you get.
"You need a lot more points but as long as a I keep doing the right things, staying fit and staying healthy, all of that will come."
