True enough, a few tweeters and texters are making the point that this isn't a Grand Slam. I'm pretty sure that Murray is aware of that and equally certain that he's quite keen to win a Slam himself, but we'll hear what he has to say about this victory later on. Of more pressing concern might be facing Roger Federer or Juan Martin del Potro in the final, but beating the best in the world in 82 minutes is worth a bit of satisfaction, I'd say.
The final is at 1500 GMT on Saturday and we will be live texting. Stay across #sportsday for updates on Federer v Delpo this afternoon, plus Murray-Djokovic reaction. Now get back to work you lot!

Murray 6-2 7-5 DjokovicMURRAY THROUGH TO FINAL
Murray wins one of the points of the match to kick the game off, controlling the rally and moving Djokovic all over the place before the world number one hits a backhand long. When he then sends a forehand over the baseline, Djokovic is in trouble at 0-30, and Murray has a good look at a forehand pass on the run..... but clips the net. A long, long rally follows... and Djokovic goes long with the backhand! Two match points for Murray.... Tam O'Shanter lady is on her feet... and Djokovic nets a forehand! A huge fist pump from Murray and he's the first man to beat the world number one in 2012.

BREAKING NEWSMURRAY BEATS DJOKOVIC 6-2 7-5
-
Sunday Times correspondent Barry Flatman on Twitter: "So why didn't @andy_murray serve like that in previous service game? I think we know the answer."
-
Murray 6-2 6-5 * Djokovic
A great game from Murray bearing in mind his last few minutes, serving his way to 40-0 before Djokovic delays him with a nifty drop shot-volley combination. Murray then swings an ace out wide - it's actually called out but the line judge was clearly wrong, as both players and the umpire basically ignore the call and get into changeover mode.
-
Murray * 6-2 5-5 Djokovic
Murray gets off to a good start with a fierce return of his own, but Djokovic hits one of his best forehands of the day followed by a winning serve on his way to 40-15. Murray steps aside to make room for an off-forehand winner that catches everyone by surprise, but a net cord goes against him and we're all square. Djokovic's parents are now standing and applauding, which is usually a good sign for Team Novak.
-
Murray 6-2 5-4 * Djokovic
Yikes. Murray's nerves are fluttering at 0-15 and they set off the alarm bells when he double-faults for 0-30. He manages to force an error on the next point but responds in kind, and at 15-40 it's two break points for Djokovic... the world number one flashes a return straight at Murray, who snatches at the backhand and finds the net. Djokovic leaps into the air and would appear to be quite up for making this a long one.
-
Murray * 6-2 5-3 Djokovic
Djokovic reacts well from 0-15, attacking the net to force an error and then flicking away a high backhand for 30-15. A forehand drive-volley looks to have done the job on the next point, and Hawkeye confirms that Murray's looping response just missed the tramline. The Briton then fires a backhand wide, and he will have to serve this one out. Hold tight everyone.

Rory Bridgeman on Twitter: "Watching live updates in work. Customers reacting strangely to my fistpumps and shouts every time Murray wins a game..." #bbctennis
-
Murray 6-2 5-2 * Djokovic
Murray is serving superbly right now, making 73% of first serves and winning 88% of the points behind them. Which all adds up to good news on the scoreboard. A fizzing Djokovic return at 30-0 keeps the game interesting but Murray hammers down a fantastic second serve followed by a heavy first serve to take the game. In his own words - "C'mon!"
-
Murray * 6-2 4-2 Djokovic
Djokovic is looking good at 30-0 but a poor forehand volley leaks over the baseline and sums up his day so far - brilliant at times but too many errors. A Djokovic forehand into the net prompts one shriek from the crowd that shakes the windows in Salford and it's 30-30, but the top seed finds a couple of decent survives and stays just about in touch.
-
Karthi Gnanasegaram on Twitter: "Murray 4-1 up 2nd set although Julia Somerville just confessed she's a Djokovic fan. Something to do with his legs I think!" #bbctennis
-
Murray 6-2 4-1 * Djokovic
The crowd is getting very lively when Djokovic wins the first point of the game but Murray takes some of the heat out of the situation with two aces in a row. A floating Murray backhand is just too tempting for Djokovic, but he cannot control the forehand and sends it way long. Two game points for Murray.... Djokovic steps in and smacks a backhand return winner, but then goes narrowly wide when he attempts a similar shot and Murray is two games away.
-
Murray * 6-2 3-1 Djokovic
No mistakes in this game from Djokovic as he holds to love, looking a lot sharper at the net, and the Serbian contingent in the crowd get the "Novak, Novak" chant going to try and help their man. He holds to love to stop a run of seven straight games for Murray.
-
Murray 6-2 3-0 * Djokovic
Murray wallops down some heavy serves on his way to 40-0 and, brushing aside a decent Djokovic return for 40-15, sweeps a backhand winner into the corner to consolidate the break. Pretty much going to plan, I'd say.
-
Murray's former coach Brad Gilbert on Twitter: "This isn't a major but big difference between here and AUS, AM getting alot of free points on his serve + Djoker seems a bit off kilter."
-
Murray * 6-2 2-0 Djokovic
Murray is in great shape at 0-30 after Djokovic nets a volley, but the Scot catches the tape when trying to hook a forehand down the line. Djokovic cannot get any rhythm going at the moment though, and another error hands Murray two break points at 15-40.... and what a rally on the first, Murray seemingly out of it at least twice but staying alive with his brilliant movement and ultimately drawing a forehand error from Djokovic.
-
Murray 6-2 1-0 * Djokovic
A very deep Murray backhand at 15-0 is called out, but Hawkeye says otherwise. Djokovic takes the point anyway by moving in on a short ball and steering away a high forehand volley. Murray surely has the next point after almost sending Djokovic into the front row of the stands with an amazing angled backhand, only for the world number three to paddle a backhand long with the court gaping. Danger for Murray, but an ace and a net cord do the job and he's handling the crisis moments really well so far.

Martin O'Neill \u200fon Twitter: "Got excited when my brother phoned to say he was in Dubai watching the tennis, until I realised he meant Derby."
-
Matthew, Romford, via text: "My brother IS watching live in Dubai, \u00a36 for a ticket. Come on Murray!"
-
Murray * 6-2 Djokovic
Murray is dominating right now, even if he is having to play most of his shots from deep behind the baseline. His retrieving leads to Djokovic hit the net three times in succession and it's 0-40, three set points... a great backhand volley from Djokovic on the first and Murray misses with the lob, but the Scot wrestles the initiative on the next point and hammers away a backhand to take the set. Half an hour gone - all done in an hour?
-
Ash Horsfall on Twitter: "Fell off my chair when I had a glance at the Murray score and saw that he had broke." #bbctennis
-
Murray 5-2 * Djokovic
Djokovic puts the pressure straight back on Murray, getting to 15-30 and then returning a deep second serve brilliantly for 15-40 and two break points..... Djokovic has a real chance with Murray at the net but the Briton anticipates the pass and puts away a forehand volley. Djokovic then returns a first serve right onto the baseline, but Murray regains the initiative and draws an error. Deuce... and Murray finds two big serves.
-
Murray * 4-2 Djokovic
Djokovic drops his first point on serve when he hooks a rather tame forehand into the net. Murray then attacks a second serve and draws an error for 30-30, before repeating the trick to earn a break point.... the Djokovic first serve has gone missing for now, but he has a chance to level the game when a forehand sits up invitingly... but the Serbian blazes it over the baseline. Murray gets the break.
-
Debbie in London via text: "Would love 2 be in dubai watching live. Come on Andy!"
-
Murray 3-2 * Djokovic
Murray responds in kind with a terrific game, moving to 40-0 and then cracking a forehand winner past Djokovic at the net before yelping "C'mon!" Just one point lost by either player behind first serves so far.
-
Murray * 2-2 Djokovic
Blimey, anyone who wonders why Djokovic is the best in the world right now should watch that game. The world number one is bristling with positive intent throughout, setting up the second point with a magnificent backhand down the line and thumping away a forehand into the space created. A love hold.
-
Daily Telegraph correspondent Simon Briggs on Twitter: "Bold start from both players, then a first knee clutch from Murray as he misses a forehand pass. Sign of self-doubt maybe?"

-
Murray 2-1 * Djokovic
Djokovic attacks the net behind a devilish sliced backhkand into the corner and Murray cannot lift his forehand over the net - 15-15. A double-fault from Murray moments later makes it 30-30, but a big first serve gets him to game point and Djokovic goes long with a forehand.
-
Murray * 1-1 Djokovic
No problems for Djokovic as his serve dominates, a heavy one down the 'T' wrapping up a love hold.

Derek Campbell on Twitter: "Would love to be in a pub somewhere watching this one, work updates will have to do!! Come on Murray!!" #bbctennis
-
Murray 1-0 * Djokovic
Murray makes a quick start, hitting through his forehand straight away - always a good sign - as he gets to 40-0. Djokovic pegs him back with a backhand that almost skittles over the Briton, and a more aggressive rally from the world number one makes it 40-30. The pressure is already cranking up, but Djokovic lets Murray off the hook with a mistimed backhand.

1312:
The court in Dubai is apparently significantly faster than most on the tour these days, which could make for a few shorter rallies than in Melbourne. It also works rather well for Roger Federer, who takes a 15-match winning streak into the second semi-final against Juan Martin del Potro. Quite a day of tennis. Murray to serve....
-
1308:
Murray and Djokovic get a huge roar when they walk out onto Centre Court, with a large contingent of Serbian fans matched by a (presumably) Scottish lady wearing a Tam O'Shanter and brandishing some Murray Mints. A fine effort.

1303:
We can probably be sure that Murray and Djokovic will not delay us for four hours and 50 minutes today as they're playing best-of-three in Dubai, but most sets between the top boys seem to nudge an hour these days, so settle back. It could match Nadal's win over Djokovic in Madrid three years ago, which took four hours and two minutes. For three sets.

Murray on playing Djokovic: "I would like to get a chance to play him again. Before the Indian Wells-Miami stretch it would be good to see exactly what I need to work on, where my game is. I had a great match with him in Australia, and hopefully I can reverse the result tomorrow."
-
1256:
Murray and Djokovic are both 24 years old, have known each other since they were 11 and regularly practice together. Djokovic leads 7-4 in their professional meetings, with the Serb winning last month's Australian Open semi-final in four hours and 50 minutes. It's fair to say, they know each other pretty well.
