Jon Rudd wins British Coach of the Year award

Jon Rudd has been named as British swimming's coach of the year after guiding teenager Ruta Meilutyte to Olympic and World Championship gold.

The British Swimming Coaches' Association recognised the part the Plymouth Leander coach had played in Meilutyte's string of successes.

The 16-year-old won gold at the 2012 Olympics and 2013 World Championships and set two world records.

Rudd will coach England at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Ben Proud, the men's 50m butterfly British record holder, is also coached by Rudd.
