Phil Taylor is taking a break from the Darts World Championship to attend the awards. The fifteen-time world champion came second to jockey Tony McCoy in last year's poll

Bob Champion is awarded the Helen Rollason Award. Champion survived testicular cancer, went on to win the 1981 Grand National and has since raised millions for charity through the Bob Champion Cancer Trust
Lauren Taylor is presented with the Young Sports Personality of the Year award by Jessica Ennis and Roberto Mancini. The golfer won the British Open Amateur Championship this year at the age of 16
Andy Flower wins the Coach of the Year award. The Zimbabwean took charge of the England cricket team in 2009 and has led them to two Ashes victories and the number one position in the Test rankings
Novak Djokovic thanks the British public in a pre-recorded speech after winning the Overseas Sports Personality of the Year award. The Serbian tennis player won three Grand Slams this year
Janice Eaglesham and Ian Mirfin are the winners of the Unsung Hero Award. The pair run the Red Star Athletics Club in Glasgow, which has trained over 150 disabled athletes over the course of 21 years
After seeing their coach Andy Flower acknowledged earlier in the evening, the England cricket side are up on stage as they win Team of the Year
Princess Anne presents Sir Steve Redgrave with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Redgrave, who won five Olympic gold medals, joked that the cast he was sporting definitely did not suggest a return to rowing
Mark Cavendish is awarded the 2011 Sports Personality of the Year. The Manx cyclist finishes ahead of golfer Darren Clarke and long-distance runner Mo Farah and is rewarded for his five stage wins in this year's Tour de France
