BBC celebrates sport with Blue Peter's Helen Skelton

Blue Peter presenter Helen Skelton shows BBC Sport around 'Celebrate Sport', two weeks of sport-related events at MediaCityUK, Salford.

The National Football Museum  are in residence on site and are working with schoolchildren and toddlers from across the North of England on a range of football related activities.

They also have a fantastic array of memorabilia on display, including the football with which England legend Sir Geoff Hurst scored his 1966 World Cup Final winning hat-trick, commentator John Motson's famous sheepskin coat and even a Manchester United shirt worn by George Best.

Poet Paul Cookson is captivating visitors with his football poetry and the Imperial War Museum North is teaching youngsters about trench life during World War I.

The lesson ends with the chance to perform a radio drama about the remarkable football match played between rival troops in 'no man's land' on Christmas Day 1914.

Meanwhile, people attending can also enjoy activities in the BBC 'Playzone' where you can try your hand at sport commentary, read 5 Live sport bulletins, present a TV weather forecast and pose for a photo with the BBC Sports Personality of the Year trophy.

The event is open to the public on weekdays between 4-8pm and on weekends between 10am-6pm.

'Celebrate Sport' culminates on Thursday 22 December, when the site becomes host to the BBC Sports Personality of the year awards.
