Scotland are poised to play in the week of the Euro 2012 play-offs after all despite having failed to reach that stage of the competition.
Coach Craig Levein is planning a friendly during that international week, with Cyprus among several possible destinations for the Scots.
The first legs of the play-offs will take place on 11 or 12 November, with the second legs on 15 November.
Levein is also planning a sunshine training camp in February.
Meanwhile, the Scottish Football Association is still awaiting word from its counterparts in England about a one-off friendly between their two sides.
Initial talks have taken place about a match at Wembley forming part of the Football Association's 150th anniversary celebrations in 2013.
However, an FA source stressed that it was just one of several options, that plans are still at an early stage and it will be early next year before any final decision is reached.
