Redruth: Ashley Morcom says Reds are potentially best in league

Redruth forwards coach Ashley Morcom believes his side are potentially the best team in National League Two South.

The Reds are looking to end a five league-match losing streak when they face Southend this weekend.

"I'm not sure what's happened over the last few weeks but we simply haven't performed like we can," Morcom told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"I've always said if we perform to our potential there isn't a side in the league that could live with us."

Redruth were beaten 65-19 at Henley last weekend, their biggest defeat of the season, but Morcom insists the mistakes made will be put right.

"We went into the game saying we just needed to attack but tactically that wasn't right, Henley played well though.

"We haven't performed over the last few weeks but we've got a chance to put that right on Saturday."

Jake Rayment misses the visit of 10th-placed Southend but Reds player-coach Steve Evans returns.

"We'll probably make one change in the forwards but we're as strong as we can put out and will be similar to last week," Morcom added.
