Richard Thorpe signs new London Irish two-year contract

London Irish back row Richard Thorpe has signed a two-year contract extension with the Premiership side.

The 26-year-old, who has scored 16 tries in 110 appearances, joined the club's academy in 2002.

Thorpe told the club's website: "I have thoroughly enjoyed life at London Irish and it is a pleasure to come to work every day.

"The club has been fantastic to me over the last decade and I'm looking forward to another enjoyable two years ahead."

London Irish head coach Toby Booth added: "Richard is a highly committed London Irish player who gives his all for the shirt whenever he wears it.

"I have coached Richard since he first started at the club and the one thing I can never fault is his effort and commitment.

"We are building a squad at Sunbury who will challenge for silverware next season and Richard will play a big part in this."

Thorpe, who represented England Schools at under-16 and under-18 level and is also an under-18 and under-21 international, has made 20 appearances for the Exiles this season scoring two tries.
