Paul Wellens: St Helens skipper an inspiration, says Richie Mathers

Wakefield full-back Richie Mathers tells BBC's Super League Show that St Helens captain Paul Wellens has been an inspiration for a generation of players.

Wellens made his 500th career appearance in Friday's 40-22 win against Catalan Dragons, while forward Jon Wilkin celebrated his 350th career outing in the same game.

Castleford's Michael Shenton, who played with Wellens at St Helens, predicts the former Great Britain full-back will go on to make 550 appearances before he decides to retire.

Super League Show host Tanya Arnold also talks to Mathers and Shenton about the increasing longevity of players at the elite level of the game.
