Sam Tomkins: Wigan to face new club New Zealand Warriors
Sam Tomkins could be set for a quick reunion with Wigan Warriors after the Super League champions arranged a friendly against New Zealand Warriors.
The full-back, 24, joined the NRL side for a world-record fee in September.
And he could make his debut for his new club against the team he helped to a league and cup double in 2013.
The friendly, which will be played in Hamilton on 12 February, is a warm-up for Wigan's World Club Challenge match against Sydney Roosters 10 days later.
"Playing the Warriors in Hamilton will be a great experience for our squad," Wigan head coach Shaun Wane told the club website.
"It is a trip we are all looking forward to and we are delighted to have been able to arrange this historic meeting between the two Warriors clubs."
Tomkins, who played for England at the 2013 World Cup, made his debut for Wigan as a 19-year-old and scored 144 tries in 152 appearances for the Warriors.
The final season of his Wigan career saw him win the Challenge Cup in August, scoring a last-minute try against Hull FC at Wembley, and culminated with Grand Final success against Warrington at Old Trafford in October.
