Super League: Wigan Warriors face Leeds Rhinos in semi-finals
Wigan Warriors have chosen to face defending champions Leeds Rhinos in Super League's qualifying semi-finals.
The Warriors, who finished top of Super League in the regular season, had the choice under the 'ClubCall' system.
The other qualifying play-off winners, St Helens, will face Warrington Wolves, who had been Wigan's other option.
Super League play-off semis
- Fri 28 Sep: Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos
- Sat 29 Sep: St Helens v Warrington Wolves
The qualifying semi-finals will take place on the weekend of 28-29 September, with Wigan and St Helens both having home advantage.
The winners will meet in the Grand Final at Old Trafford on 6 October.
Wigan have already done the double over Leeds in the regular season, but lost to them in the Challenge Cup semi-finals, and will have the chance for revenge on Friday at the DW Stadium.
Leeds coach Brian McDermott said: "It [the cup semi-final] may count more for Wigan in terms of motivation but we won't read much into it.
"They beat us twice in the league and it wasn't a great day for us at home when they put 50 points past us."
In Saturday's second semi, Challenge Cup winners Warrington will travel to Langtree Park for a quick rematch against Saints, who beat them 28-6 in the first round of the play-offs.

Dream on, Andy! Wigan haven't won anything and Saints are better? Oh yeah?? What have Saints won apart from a record losing streak in Grand Finals? Even if you do get to Old Trafford, you face a nightmare repeat against us or Leeds and an extension of your record! Laughing all tghe way to the pie shop!!!

Wigan, Saints, Leeds, all great teams with great traditions. Wires won the shield last season and from what I recall it's worth was minimised. I'm way past retirement age now and really humbled by Morley's comments after the Challenge Cup win - 'Jamie Peacock was superb'. Two other old codgers like myself. The players from all teams know what all these games are worth.

I am not saying they came over to lose. The Australians just don't take it as seriously as we do. Which is a shame as it is a great concept.

1 to 13 same, the only difference was 2 players on the subs bench. So how is that a B team. You say they weren't taking it seriously,It's a long way to go for a pre season warm up. Australians always want to win.

It wasn't their strongest team as your have pointed out by your use of the word 'virtually'. Plus it was pretty much their 1st pre-season match with their new coach. Their preparation wasn't that of a team that was taking the match too seriously, more like another pre-season warmup. As I have said, i'm not knocking Leeds, they can only beat what's in front of them.
