Hull FC will be without forward Richard Whiting for the rest of their Super League season.
The 27-year-old fractured a bone in his foot in the
win over Catalans earlier this month.
"He won't play again this season, it's too big a risk," coach Peter Gentle told BBC Radio Humberside.
"If he played on it again then he'd displace the bone, so he'll be on crutches for the next four to six weeks and we'll see if it heals by itself."
Hull are currently sixth in Super League, having won 13 of their 25 fixtures.
