Hull KR skipper Ben Galea to retire at the end of the season
Hull KR skipper Ben Galea has announced he is to retire at the end of the current season.
The Robins revealed last month that they would not be offering the 34-year-old a new deal.
Galea said at the time that he was keen to continue playing next season, having previously suggested this would be his last year.
"I've decided I'll be moving back to Australia in October," he told BBC Radio Humberside.
"It was a really hard decision to make because I still feel like I've got another year in me but Hull didn't offer me a new deal and I didn't want to go anywhere else.
"It's disappointing but the club have got a few new guys coming in and I don't resent them at all.
"I'm grateful for the opportunity the club has given me and I've had a great time here."
The Australian forward joined the Craven Park club from NRL side Wests Tigers in 2007.
