Salford aim to emulate Warrington's successful move

Salford move to the Salford City Stadium after 110 years at The Willows

Salford will start next season in the Salford City Stadium

Salford chairman John Wilkinson aims to emulate Warrington as they prepare for life in a new stadium.

The City Reds leave The Willows at the end of this season.

"We've got to look at other clubs that have moved to new stadia and how they've been transformed," Wilkinson told BBC Radio Manchester .

"Wilderspool held a lot of memories for people in Warrington, but they embraced the Halliwell Jones. We've got to bring that to the Salford City Stadium."

Salford bid farewell to The Willows, after 110 years, when they play Catalan Dragons in Super League on Sunday. They will start next season at the purpose built ground in Barton.

"Salford people are good people", Wilkinson added.

"They'll want the best and they'll be as excited as I am for when they'll walk into that stadium for the very first time."
