Almost 60 boats to enter Sark to Jersey rowing race
Almost 60 boats are set to take part in the 2013 Sark to Jersey rowing race.
Guernsey's reigning champions Geomarine will defend their title on 22 June and are one of 22 crews from the island.
Jersey Rowing Club's Jacques Mare is the youngest competitor at 14-years-old, while there are a number of novice crews taking part for the first time.
"We have a lot of strong crews this year and are expecting keen competition with Guernsey in several classes," said organiser Clive Russell.
Rowers will race between Dixcart Bay and Bonne Nuit and Russell hopes conditions will be better than 2012.
The race had to be postponed twice last summer and did not take place until September.
"After last year's cancellations, everyone is even more determined than ever to make the Sark to Jersey the best it can possibly be," Russell said.
"I have high hopes for Jersey and am pleased to say that Jersey Rowing Club has never been stronger.
"Nearly all our club races have attracted a record number of entries this year and spirits are high in the club for excellent racing on 22 June."
