Cornwall's Annie Vernon confident ahead of World Cup

Vernon won the world title in the quadruple sculls last year

Cornish rower Annie Vernon is hopeful of putting in a good performance at this weekend's World Cup regatta.

It is Vernon's first race since the British team pulled out of the Hamburg regatta due to an E.Coli outbreak.

"I'm looking forward to getting stuck in to some hard racing against whatever the rest of the world can throw at us," Vernon said.

Vernon and her quadruple sculls team will hope to better the bronze they won in the Munich World Cup regatta in May.

Fellow Cornishwoman Helen Glover races in the pairs, having won twice at the Amsterdam International Regatta last month.

"I am really looking forward to stepping on from some good racing in Munich and Amsterdam," said Glover.

"It's going to be a major part of our preparation for the World Championships so we want to learn as much as we can from this world cup."
