Purchase won gold in the lightweight double sculls at the 2008 Olympics
Oxfordshire-based Olympic gold medallist Zac Purchase says he is relishing the prospect of competing in the summer rowing season.
Purchase is set to compete at two World Cup events in Germany during May and June as well as the World Championships in Slovenia in August.
"Worlds are end game for this season and the World Cups are always good fun," the 24-year-old told BBC Oxford.
"We're racing at Hamburg for the first time on a new course so it'll be good."
The first World Cup event of the summer takes place in Munich on 29 May with the second being hosted in Hamburg on 17 June.
The British rowing squad will then travel to Bled, Slovenia for the World Championships on 28 August.
Purchase has put himself in a strong position to win medals during the summer season having won the lightweight men's scull at the
Great British rowing trials
at Dorney Lake last weekend.

“It's so far so good this season, it's always nice to come out on top and it was not a bad race to do it in”
"It's so far so good this season, it's always nice to come out on top and it was not a bad race to do it in," said Gloucestershire-born Purchase.
"It was the final trial that will put us into a position to go forward and get selected into crew boats for the summer racing season so it was good to come out and have a successful race."
