London 2012: Great Britain narrowly lose in men's foil to Italy

Great Britain fencing team almost stun world number one Italy in a thrilling quarter-final encounter in the men's team foil at the ExCel Arena

Italy maintained a narrow lead for the majority of the match but Britain's James Davis put on a stunning display against the world and European champion Andrea Cassara to go into the final bout only two points behind.

The Italians rallied late on to triumph 45-40 to reach the semi-finals. Britain remain without a Olympic fencing medal since 1964.
