Olympics marathon: Ethiopia's Tiki Gelana wins gold in record time
Ethiopia's Tiki Gelana wins the Olympic marathon in wet conditions after a race-long battle with silver-medallist Priscah Jeptoo and Russia's Tatyana Petrova Arkhipova.
Pre-race favourite Mary Keitany of Kenya faded in the closing stages to finish fourth in London, with Russia's Liliya Shobukhova, another tipped to do well, dropping out of the race after 22.4km with injury.
Gelana, the cousin of Sydney 2000 Olympic marathon winner Gezhagne Abera, crossed the line in an Olympic record time of two hours, 23 minutes and seven seconds.
