Uzbekistan's Artur Taymazov beat Davit Modzmanashvili to clinch his third consecutive Olympic gold in the men's 120kg freestyle wrestling.
Taymazov, who also won silver at Sydney 2000, beat Georgia's Modzmanashvili in straight periods.
"Does that make him the greatest freestyler wrestler of all-time? Maybe it does. It was a well deserved win."
He took the first 1-0 after overturning a sudden-death clinch, before winning the second 1-0 in a close-fought bout.
Iran's Komeil Ghasemi and three-time world champion Bilyal Makhov each took a bronze medal at ExCeL.
Ghasemi won the first period against USA's triple Pan-American champion Tervel Dlagnev after opening up a 4-0 lead in the first 20 seconds.
Dlagnev took the scoreless second period in a sudden-death clinch, before Ghasemi sealed bronze with a winning point just nine seconds from the final hooter.
Russia's Makhov, who many experts tipped to reach the final, needed three periods to beat Daulet Shabanbay of Kazakhstan in the other medal decider.
He cruised to a 5-0 win in the first, but lost the second 3-0, before battling back to triumph 3-0 in the last for bronze.
