Carrington powers to K1 sprint gold
Olympics kayak: Lisa Carrington of New Zealand wins K1 single 200m
New Zealand's Lisa Carrington won a thrilling sprint to claim Olympic gold in the women's kayak single 200m.
The reigning world champion, 23, moved past Inna Osypenko-Radomska of Ukraine in the closing stages to win by 0.4 seconds, clocking a time of 44.638.
Hungary's Natasa Douchev-Janics was third, while Britain's Jess Walker came home seventh in 46.161 seconds.
Walker, 22, said: "I think I may give the K1 500m a go and fight for that over the next four years."
The Londoner added: "There are some girls out there who just train for the 200m and don't reach the finals.
"If you're just training for one event it's quite a big risk."
