Olympics shot put: Nadzeya Ostapchuk wins surprise gold

Nadzeya Ostapchuk shocked world and Olympic champion Valerie Adams to win the women's shot put final.

The Belarusian, who has improved her personal best three times this summer, threw 21.36m with her third attempt.

New Zealand's Adams came second with a distance of 20.70m, and Russia's Evgeniia Kolodko threw a personal best 20.48 to win bronze.

Lijiao Gong and Ling Li, of China, came fourth and fifth respectively but no Britons entered the competition.

Ostapchuk, 31, won gold at the 2010 European Championships, but was second to Adams at the 2011 World Championships.

However, she dominated the final to win her country's third gold medal at London 2012.

* Ostapchuk was later banned from competition for a year after failing a drugs test and stripped of her gold medal.
