Terry Hyland has been put in charge of Cavan for four and a half years
Cavan name Terry Hyland as new county football manager
Cavan have named Terry Hyland as their new football manager following the resignation of Val Andrews.
Hyland, who recently led Cavan's Under-21 team to a second successive Ulster title, has been given the job up to the end of the 2016 campaign.
Anthony Forde has been named as coach and selector of the senior team.
Andrews resigned after a disappointing National League campaign which saw Cavan narrowly avoid relegation to Division Four.
A statement released by Cavan on Monday night said club delegates unanimously backed the appointment of Hyland and Forde.
"They will manage the Cavan senior team for the remaining part of this season and for a further four years," it said.
"This brings to an end a difficult week for the county."
Cavan face Donegal in the preliminary round of the Ulster Championship on 20 May.
