Antrim 3-18 2-15 Wexford

Antrim made a winning start to their NHL Division 1B campaign with a comfortable victory over Wexford.

Eoghan Quigley's goal helped Wexford into a five-point lead but the Saffrons hit back with two goals in 60 seconds.

Shane McNaughton struck first before debutant Kevin Sheerin netted and a third goal from Karl Stewart made it 3-9 to 1-7 at the break.

Wexford improved in the second half and Quigley netted again but the Saffrons easily held on for the two points.

Antrim keeper Chris O'Connell saved John Lacey's penalty midway through the first half after Cormac Donnelly committed a foul.

McNaughton should have doubled his goal tally in the second half when he found the side-netting after going clear.

It was a good start for new Saffrons boss Jerry Wallace in his first competitive game in charge.
