Ian Hutchinson: Injury-hit TT star wins Macau Grand Prix

Isle of Man TT record-breaker Ian Hutchinson has won the Macau Grand Prix.

Hutchinson, who in 2010 was the first rider to win all five solo TT races in the same year, had qualified on pole, 0.057 seconds ahead of Michael Rutter.

The Yorkshire rider, 34, was behind Rutter initially but overtook him in lap five.

He has undergone 29 operations in the past three years following a crash at Silverstone.

Hutchinson, from Bingley, suffered serious leg injuries in a high-speed crash at Silverstone, just three months after his five-timer at the TT, and later described the day as the "worst of his life".

The following year he suffered a further leg fracture in a motorcycle stunt display in London, setting back his recovery and, although he returned to compete in the 600cc Isle of Man TT race in 2012, he had not raced since then.
